FAQ

Q.: What inspired you to write romance?

A.: Becoming a writer was never something I was particularly interested in or even considered doing. Honestly, I was content being an avid romance reader. It was the challenge from my husband in the spring of 2003 that made me seriously consider penning my first romance novel and it was quite funny how it happened…

September 13
Lidia, a novel by Akil N. DeBerry. (Opening lines v.002) “They were a feat of arrogance, of pride, of hope; and yet it was only after the world had died around them that they had truly took hold. Fire would barely scorch them and poisons only killed few, and seemed, with each of their dying breaths, they whispered somehow to the other, the secrets of servival. They were the Goliaths, trees engineered from countless others to save a world that no longer was, or ever would be again. And here, where once long ago a city unparalleled stood, they now conquered.”

About this author edit data
I was born October 10, 19** in good ole Queens, New York. I had a difficult childhood because I developed severe eczema and most of my schoolmates shunned me until high school. Books became my friend.
Early in life, I found myself fascinated by the macabre. I would actually set my alarm if one of my favorite Alfred Hitchcock, Rod Serling or One Step Beyond episodes was coming on late at night. These kept me up til the wee hours of the morning.
Being raised in Amityville was the icing on the cake. I went to see the actual “Amityville Horror” house and swear it literally took my breath away.
My biological mother died when I was 13, the age when puberty reared its ugly head. Needless to say, I was a wife and mother by the time I was 17, divorc…more

Wealthy, Famous, Sexy, Successful, The “Boyz” Got It Going On … Or So It Would Seem.
There are no siblings more charmed than the Wilson brothers of Ladera Heights, California. Fine and famous pro golfer Mason has money, respect, a beautiful, loving wife and two wonderful teenage children. Claude’s the most successful realtor in the “Black Beverly Hills.” And handsome, carefree “baby boy” Torino, who runs big brother Mason’s club, Foreplay, can pick and choose the honeys he wants to share his time and his bed with. But beneath the surface of ideal lives are secrets that could shatter three perfect dreams and shake a family to its core. Legacies of loss and obligation, of tragedy and madness, threaten everything the Wilsons have worked so hard to achieve, exposing deep, raw, and devastating wounds that an outside world cannot see — wounds that can be healed only through honesty and love. From the phenomenal author of “The Chocolate Ship” comes a gripping and powerful novel of passion, commitment, intrigue, and family that will not be easily forgotten by anyone who gets lost in its pages.

Reviewer: Brian Dodge
This book is a must read! Not just for those in law enforcement but those who want to get a “glimpse” at just how difficult the “JOB” can be. Jones depicts the right feelings and thoughts that happen when an officer is in a stressful situation and just serves as a reminder how much law enforcement does for our community. GREAT READING!!!!

  A Must-Read Book , 09/25/2006
Reviewer: Barry Margolis
Simply stated, this is not only required reading for past and present law enforcement, but for ANYONE who ever wondered just what lengths police officers had to go to in order to Protect and Serve. Thank you, Gary, for telling it just the way it was!

  True Depiction , 10/16/2006
Reviewer: vicki benoit
Gary Jones wrote this book from a perspective few sew of police officers…we are human. Many books depict us as hardcore and uncaring. This books reveals the hard work, dedication, the emotions up and down, and the frustration and fears we all experience.

As Real As It Gets , 10/17/2006
Reviewer: Tom Woolsey
As a former member of the Tactical Impact Unit I have to say that this book put me right back into the incidents that Gary depicted in the chapters. The greatest and most dedicated group of people I have had the privilege of knowing. T.I.U. established guidelines for future special units in law enforcement.

Reviewer: Major Jim Eskew
An outstanding portrayal of the fight against criminal events unfolding in real life drama. This comes from a very dedicated officer alone with his thoughts as he trys to right wrongs and protect the community within which we live. His courage, honesty and desire to defeat the bad guys and protect the victims, is an inspiration to us all. ‘Shots fired’ is a MUST read!
